The boot of my Kia will not lock when I press the key lock button
Do you mean that the passenger doors lock, but the boot doesn't? If it's not locking, perhaps it's not closing properly? Does it lock using the button on the dash?

Think for sure the tailgate is closing OK, but it doesn't lock.

Then I guess then either the lock is broken, the actuator mechanism is broken, or the switch that tells it is shut is broken. Difficult to diagnose more than that.

You could try disconnecting the battery for an hour as a sort of reset, you never know (you'll lose your trip information, but not your radio presets).

Thanks for that; so by trip information I'm assuming you mean the SatNav addresses right? I've just bought the car, so that's no issue.

No, I think all satnav stuff was retained when I disconnected my battery. I was surprised not to lose the radio stations, but I lost the mpg / miles / time etc. from the trip 'computer'.
