Its happened to me a couple of times on the Tempest. When coming to a halt i have still been turning the steering wheel slightly as i switch off. This can mean that when you come back to the car later and slip the key in, the steering has totally locked up and you cant wiggle the wheel to allow the key to turn as in a normal car (the Soul has electric powered steering).

Anyway - dont try forcing the steering or the key, just let the brakes off and let the car roll a couple of inches, this frees off the steering tension and then the key will turn as normal.
