Can anyone give advise on a '03 Rio 1.5SE

Recently purchased an '03 plate Rio however, the ABS kicks-in at slow speeds regardless of the weather and road conditions. Upon inspection, it seems the Reluctor rings on the shaft have cracked thus the ABS seems to think the wheels are locking and therefore initiates the ABS.

The shuddering when braking only happens when braking at slow speeds. To resolve the problem, I understand the reluctor rings need to be changed, however, they only come as a complete unit with the shaft and that is very expensive.

Q1. Can the ABS system be deactivated so that it does operate at all. This would resolve the problem of it kicking-in at all?

Q2. Does anyone know if the rings can be machined made and suggesta contact of such machine shops? This would be the most economical way to replace them.

Many thanks for any ideas.

Rings are available as a seperate part, not uncommon to find them broken on any make of car.
Disabling the ABS will lead to mot failure.
