I am pretty useless with cars but can usually change a battery pretty easy

I went and got the exact same battery at Halfords as I got 3 years before and swapped it over. However the battery terminal clip wouldn't tighten on it as it was too big.
I ordered an adapter but it was too small.
I reckon i need to replace the positive battery terminal but don't know how easy it is.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I probably wouldnt use halfords I tend to use online purchases such as here https://www.batterymegastore.co.uk
If you have just purchased the battery I would take it back to or at least have the conversation with Halfords.
From memory the positive terminal has additional fuses integrated with the clamp.
I would recommend that the correct battery terminal size and configuration is purchased along with the correct start rating.

hi take it back to halfords and tell them it doesn't fit ask them what they are going to do. Perhaps they will get the correct battery

Make sure the clamp has not fractured. They can fracture too much if tightened too much.
