Hi all,
I have kia sorento 64 plate. About 3 months ago a had to top up oil as alert came up on dash board. Since then I started checking oil level regularly and I have noticed it is going down again. I must say there is no oil leak - no marks on driveway. One of my mates said that I should change oil in to diffrent one as I was using the same one for last 3 years(shell helix ultra 5W-30 ect c3). He is using Motul 8100 eco-nergy SAE 5W-30.
My question is will that solve the issue? Any one have the same issue? And have you got any oil recommendation?

....if you start the engine and remove the oil filler cap..do you have air 'puffing' out which is quite normal but it's shouldn't appear 'oily'?......it's only a thought because earlier mk1's had a tendency to blow injector seals resulting in 'excessive blowby'...simple to check?

Another option might be crankcase ventilation system and/or PCV valve clogged (PCV = Positive Crankcase Ventilation) .
