I bought a kia sedona a couple of months ago and it was the worst thing I ever did. So far it has had the head gasket done along with all other gaskets, then i had the cam belt and water pump changed. After this I have had to have 4 new injectors and all seemed to be going ok until yesterday when it decided not to start.... I called the RAC out who said they had no idea what the problem is and gave me a can of easy start to use so I can get it to a garage..I really can't afford anymore expensive bills and just hope it is something simple. It is trying to start but just won't fire up... PLEASE any ideas would be fantastic

Hi Tracy
I'm having similar problems with mine, but only if the temperature is below 10 degrees. Is the easy start working with your car, as it does with mine. Have been told that my problem is that the inlet manifold pre-heater is coated with muck from the egr valve. I have to blank off the egr valve, and clean the pre-heater, and this should cure my problem. Hope it's as simple with yours.

Regards

Keith

Thanks for your reply... Where is the inlet manifold pre heater located?? Easy start does work but i don't really want to use it. I have had the fuel tanksensor replaced today incase it was that but still no luck, I really hope it is this as it's starting to drive me insane and my bank account isn't looking too good!!! Oh well.. Many thanks Tracy..

HI I am owner of an 05 Kia Sedona, it is now a non-runner. A couple of weeks ago it went from running fine and then not starting. Basically the whole fuel system has failed due to the fuel pump putting metal fillings through the system. I suggest you get your car fuel system checked and if the code P119 comes up it means there is a major problem and potentially cost thousands. I am in that position and Kia have offered no goodwill to help with the repair, I am now scrapping my car and have had to go and buy a new car - not a Kia!!!!

you people, you need to say what year it is, you must always start with the immo light on the dash, it needs to be on when you get a non start situation, if it is flashing it will be the pickup coil, common kia problem, the immo disables injection and not the starter, another easy check for you is the injector leak off test, with common rail there "has" to be a minimum fuel pressure generated, until this minimum is reached injection is disabled, look on the www, about how to do a leak off test, (a lazy starter also can affect the cranking speed/fuel pressure,) use the best of them as your base line. to check for filings in the system remove your fuel filter, seal it off and give it a good shake, open it up like a bean can, pour the contents in to a clear plastic container, place a magnet on the under side and see how bid a puddle of filings you get,(if you have just replaced the filter it might be no use doing this,) this was a delphi problem right from intro of the 2003 common rail sedona, kia were replacing full systems on lots of vehicles due to the pump breaking up, they were only done on a complaint basis. if the pump is breaking up look in the top of the fuel tank via the sender, you can see the filings glistening on the bottom of the tank. the pump has to generate a minimum of 1050 bar, but you cannot check this your self easily, needs special tool,

Hey Guys, I have also had this happen on my 2015 Sedona 2.9CDRi. It happened a few times that I could not start the car. I live in Cape Town SA and this was the middle of summer, so definitely not a cold issue.

What I discovered was if I waited until the IMMO light went out on the dash before starting, it started perfectly. The last time this happened, I turned off the ignition, turn it on again, waited for the IMMO light to go out, and then started it. It started very quickly and I haven't had a problem for a long time.
