I'm looking to get a kia proceed 1.5 gt line as the new family car.

Can anyone who owns one confirm if the under floor boot storage compartments are removable?

Love the look of the car and tech on offer but my main concerns are how shallow the boot is (on paper boot capacity is more than sufficient but kia include under floor storage/cubbies in total litre available) and how it fits pram/pushchair and other family baggage.

The trays can be removed (central portion) I've not tried with those smaller cubbies at the side.
However there is no advantage to be gained by removing them.
The boot covering/carpetting does not lower any further.
You'd have to remove the whole of the 'platform' to gain any height, and that just leaves you with a bare wheel well and no ability to place anything on top safely/securely.
The trays lose about 3 inches in height in total.

I did two separate journeys to Limerick to move my two eldest into college accomodation (all in over 700km travelling - return journeys were load free). I had the tonneau cover stored under the floor so that I could pile it all as high as possible, that was including 2 boxed medium sized PCs (1 per journey), a load of vacuum packed clothing/bedding, kitchen utensils, swing bin and various things that could get stuffed in nooks and crannies. I used to have a 2011 Ceed SW, I reckon I could have (at a squeeze) made one journey and fitted all in for taking both kids to college at one go..

I also use those Xlarge 'Sports Direct' bags (29"x21") and you can fit at least 3 of those in the rear without removing the cover.

I also can fit in 5 army camp beds and a very large Vango (4 room/chamber) tent and soft bags with kit (and a 65L rucksack) if we're off camping.
It's certainly not as practical as the older 2011 SW version, despite the volume being close.
My main draw is that it still allows me to transport my (road) bike inside, front wheel off, and the back seats down. Plenty of room for extra kit, change bag etc.

Examples of stuff I managed to fit in my Proceed:

• Few sheets of 1.8x0.9m plasterboard, they fit nicely (driver seat in usual position)
• Weekend camping gear with a tent, couple of sleeping bags, couple of large shopping bags full of camping stuff, large rucksack, large shopping bag full of firewood, blankets, clothes, boots etc.. We do not have kids but it feels like we would have no trouble handling that, there was some room left in the boot and plenty on the back seats of course (although taller adults may struggle with the roofline).
• An entire disassembled 6x4 shed with larger panels cut into a couple of pieces, there was still some space under the roof. Guy at the skip was impressed.
• A few 2.5m pieces of timber, going all the way from back to front at an angle and strapped tightly.
• A mountain bike with front wheel removed.

I use middle trays to organise some of the 'daily carry' - first aid kit, boot lining blankets, windshield cover for the winter, de-icer etc. I like how these smaller items can be organised and kept out of sight until needed.
The rearmost bay is handy for larger items like a rucksack, shopping bag, or a case of beer to stop them from moving around, or to keep them upright.

my MY2019 Proceed GT Line has a (space saver) spare 125/80 16. The floor pan is the same size as the SW, just the extra height gives you more space in the SW. You could have a full size spare, just wouldn't be able to have the load trays/floor in.

Tire gunk = tire compound, right?
What's to like or not to like about the compound of a spare tire?
It should not dry out too fast, but since there's no UV light, wetness en drying or big temprature changes. It wont dry out as fast, as the tires on the outside.

Not sure which brand tire i've got, but since the irish Kia factory tire is Maxxis. Mine will be as well. Maxxis is a known offroad tire brand. So i have good expactations, based on the brand.

Side note: Factory tires are almost always worse, than tires which are store bought as the same brand+type. More mm thread depht and better compound with the same brand+type. See also link OEM Tires

No, tyre gunk = the aerosol tyre sealant used instead of having a spare tyre.
I've never used any except in tubeless bike tyres so I can't comment on its merits versus a spare (space saver)

A, didnt know that.
As a former car mechanic, i dislike the gunk.Removing gunk can be a time consuming work. Therefor pricy for the customer. Maybe the gunk is now better developt, that it'll stick less at the rim. i don't know.

I have proceed gt 2021 face-lift. I knew that GT don't have spare Tyre. I got contact at the dealership and actually they pointed at standard Kia set. Actually my wife Stonic had the one. I take the spare wheel out and I found out that it is not compatible for Stonic. It was like 2.5 cm lower and that it was almost perfect fit for proceed. So I take that one into proceed.
