, I have got a 2019 Kia Picanto and just wanted to double check..my gear shift indicatir tells me to go into 5th gear even if im only doing 35mph, is this normal? I am used to going into 5th at higher speeds.
Thanks in advance for any help.

if its the 1ltr normally aspirated, yeah that speed sounds about right, but thats just their eco programming talking and the fact it doesn't take any other parameters into account bar speed take it with a pinch of salt,

your the human behind the wheel and can see much more than the car can, so change when you know you need to.

Yes I would only change up when the engine/gearbox sounds and feels happy I would also ignore any shift indicator.

Well that depends on if you are on flat, or going up or down a hill...

You have to take the gear change indicator with a dose of salt sometimes.

As above drive to how you feel the engine is happy.

Different car i know, but on my ProCeed GT, as soon as you go over 2k revs it "indicates" that you should change up a gear, wether on the flat or going up a 1 in 3 gradient, it really isn't a very "clever" system, it just seems to be based purely on engine speed

Saying that, at 35mph on the flat, i would be in top gear anyway
