I know but the problem I did not buy it from Kia dealer its from on line company
Did they state only 1 key in add?

I would be complaining as any car should have 2 keys. Unless you are looking at bargain bucket cars.

I bought a Kia Cee'd from Motorpoint and it only came with 1 key, the 2 keys was one of thier PDI checks, they tracked down the key from the previous owner and sent it to me.

I must have phoned around a dozen firms who said we can clone any key & everyone came back with the same answer that kia had only released data up to 2017 so they couldn't do my '19 sorento don't know if this is same for all models, the only place that said they could do it was Timpsons shoe repairs dont know if you have these in scotland, apart from the places they have in shopping centres they also have specialist outlets that do electronic key replacement, they did quote £250 though, better than Kias £400 which was never going to happen.

When I bought a car from Motorpoint it was clearly shown that all cars came with one key unless otherwise confirmed. I asked them to check if my chosen car had 2 keys and it did and when requested they noted it on the order.

When collected car came 2 keys.

You need to ask before you buy, after its too late.

That is not correct, thier webiste states cars come with a spare key and they will siupply one if it is missing, it was also one of thier PDI checks.

It might not be correct now but it was in 1999 when I bought the car.

Note that I said

When I bought a car from Motorpoint
I never said when it was. Obviously their policy has changed.

Ian Shipton Cars (supermarket in Burton on Trent) had the same policy 3 years later, again they checked and it had both and it was confirmed on the order.

20 years ago it's the sort of thing I would have expected from a car dealer, but it looks like a lot of delaers have got better now, although it is always something I check along with the wheel nut key.

I don't know how long ago the OP purchased the car online but you do have the right to cancel the order within 14 days from delivery and you don't have give a reason. The threat of a cancellation may prompt some contribution or a new key.

To be honest it should only really cost a couple of hundred pounds at most to replace a key, but it seems car makers like to fleece the customer for as much as they can for some of these parts.

Just looked at the above document and to me it just looks like weasley words.

If these items are not available on the day of collection, we will endeavour to get these to you within 30 days.

"These items" includes spare key (I prefer to call it the 2nd key) but what stands out to me the 30 day limit. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 your rights to a full refund change after 30 days, if there is no 2nd key after this time a rejection since the car was not as described would cost the buyer money since the seller is legally entitled to charge for the use of the vehicle and any charges would no doubt be greater than the cost of a key.

And the use of the word "endeavour" is also clear enough. It means "to try" in a dictionary definition and no more, its not a promise to get a 2nd key.

But what is clear from the Motorpoint document is what they don't say which is what they will do if after "endeavouring" to find the key for 30 days, what do they do after. The document will have been written by legal experts and they know its not an open ended time scale. No key after 30 days and you can forget it.

So buy from Motorpoint with confidence (we had our car for over 6 trouble free years and saved £3000 over the local dealer price when we bought it) but don't take it as read you will get a 2nd key if its not there when you collect.
