Interesting.
I wish in someway that they look at less rear legroom 1 or 2 inches would make very little difference, but a massive one in terms of boot space.
Or put rear seats on adjustable rails like front seats. Given the flat floor that would not be a issue. Great selling point, as allows more customable interior space depending on personal needs. AKA EV9 (y)
From other reviews EV5 was more of a Sportage sized car.
Come on Kia get the specs out for us.

Watched todays EV3 reveal launch video & was VERY impressed
350 mile range with the 81.4kWh battery & fully loaded specs with both variants coming with HUD and physical switches galore.
Impressive that its drag coefficient is even better than that of the EV6 despite its 'boxy stance'
I rang my local Kia dealer to order one, but as expected they didnt have any further info like price etc, but will be having one visit the dealership mid October before they are available to buy in November.

Do car designers no longer own a set of what I think were called “French curves” just set squares?

owns 2022 Kia Xceed GT Line

Dont think you'll find a single straight line anywhere on the EV3's body although I think Hyundai borrowed Kia's set of 'French Curves' which were used to design the Ioniq 6 - then they burnt them!
Here's one of the Car's I built & drove in the 80's - Not a curve to be seen anywhere, my ruler & pencil were king :)

A few new points come out of that article that I hadnt heard in previous reviews

  • Both batteries are Lithium Iron Phosphate - Less energy dense than the type used in the Ioniq 5 but much cheaper & they also prefer to be charged to 100% rather than 80%

  • A new thermally efficient battery sheath heater with multiple maps for low- and high-temperature charging.

  • A new 4th generation multi-valve heat pump further increases range by drawing in both ambient heat from the outside air and combining this with recovered waste heat from the electric motor – which Kia claims is a world-first

  • A new heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system that’s both more compact to increase cabin space but also more efficient, being 33 per cent shorter that the unit it replaces.

  • A new Drive mode called 'My Drive' as well as ECO, NORMAL, & SPORT, allows you to play about and configure the variables so you can turn off traction control if you so wish.

...and looking at the walk round reviews seen so far.... a rear camera that is really exposed to the muck that will be thrown up from those really close to the back wheels!

Other than that looks quite good.

If Kia revealed the EV3 on 23 May, then I got this from Customer Support a week later...
QUOTE:
Our selling dealers really are the best people to assist with any sales enquiry, as they You can find your nearest dealership details here https://www.kia.com/uk/utility/find-a-dealer/#/step-
Brochures and specifications for the UK EV3 and EV5 are currently unavailable.
Once they are available, this information will be updated on the Kia UK website.
For more information and brochures, please visit: https://www.kia.com/uk/utility/request-a-brochure/#/select-car

Not impressed if Kia UK don't have any clue.....
Can't find much detail to see how the EV5 and EV3 compare, size, boot etc etc as they appear to be very closely matched, makes you wonder what they feel the different market sectors could be...

And then Uber chief says they get q £17k discount on the Niro EV.... really? where?

As above. Rewiews online in Australia about the EV5 & models in dealers. Uk not even a hint of when we might see it other than maybe 2025, yet we are getting EV3 before them & appears they have no idea about that.

Kia Korea really need to get their marketing team into gear & let local area's Kia UK etc know exactly what is going on.
Trouble is KCS (3rd party co) do not deal with sales side, that is all farmed out to dealer by Kia UK. Who to say the least are anonymous at best.
Having been to electric north, not happy Kia were not there. So Kia have lost a sale as daughter was looking at EV3 or BYD, who were there and had test drives.
Guess which way she has gone.

Fully impressed by the team on BYD stand they all knew their stuff despite only being a 3rd party marketing team, One of which on test drive is part of Kia team that do the electric shows at dealers (no new from him when it's coming for EV3 🤢 ) . 1 or 2 were actually from BYD. One of which was manager from local dealer who we spoke to. Got his card & said maybe in touch. Went across yesterday. Had only just got in door & he was dealing with someone else, when he broke off walked over said Hi, give me a few mins to finish with these people & will sort you out. Not bad given the thousands of people he must of met over the weekend.

My dealer (Telford - Shropshire), says they will have the demo cars visiting the showroom around October 16th, followed by cars to buy sometimes in November.
When the Ioniq 5 launched in Feb 21, I ordered it straight away & put down a £1k deposit but had till wait another 6 months for the first deliveries - the Hyundai dealers new absolutely nothing about the cars launch beforehand, so same situation as this really.

It really is sad that you can visit U-tube & see review after review of the EV3 all done at the same place & all released on same day. Yet visit a dealer & they know nothing..
Marketing by Motor co's really has fallen apart, seems they would rather pay to ship out u-tube blogger than their actual dealers to get the low down on new models.
No wonder dealers do not care as much as they used to do when they get overlooked like this by the very company they sell products for 🤣

The problem is not so much with Kia the Korean parent, or Hyundai the ultimate owner, as it is with the UK distribution company (controlled by Kia), and at this point I doubt if they have even finalised the spec for the UK models so there isn't a lot they could tell the dealers anyway...

I would guess that Kia UK is actually a franchise themselves of the Kia brand.
As I know many bike UK sides are.
There is a bit of a chain, but it is not a franchise.

All shares in Kia UK Limited are owned by Kia Motors Europe GmbH.

The ultimate parent is Kia Corporation, which in turn is controlled by Hyundai Motor Company.
