Guys help ""“ please
I need to know the location of the, speed senor and also the short loom.

Have spoken to Kia parts, and would you believe they have no
idea
about the ""short loom"" as mentioned by ""murphwiz""Even better if anybody knew the part numbers? ""“ If you want to come and fit them that's also
welcome""¦ only joking !!

Remove the enginecover and locate your air intake on the left hand (passenger) side of the engine. Follow the intake to the point that it connects to the throttle body. Directly behind this connection between the throttle body and the firewall you will find the throttle position sensor. The electrical clip has a housing on it that needs to be removed before you can remove the switch.

Introduction

It is possible that a loss of power steering assistance may occur sporadically. This can typically happen after the vehicle has been driven at high speed, such as motorway use, and is normally accompanied by the presence of diagnostic trouble code C1012 in the EPS system.

Cruise control problems can also occur on Diesel XS & XSE models, whereby the system may cut out, or work sporadically along with a ""˜surging' sensation as the system maintains road speed.

Dealer Action

If either of the above concerns is confirmed, the vehicle speed sensor should be replaced with part number 964204A600, and additionally an adaptor harness, part number 914003E999 should be fitted between the vehicle speed sensor and the wiring harness.

Hi TaffMany thanks for your reply. I'm just confirming the details
below are correct?

Throttle position sensor speed sensor should be replaced
with part number 964204A600

This is the ""short loom"" / adaptor harness, part number
914003E999 as previously mentioned by ""Murphwiz""

i havesimilarsteering problems and will look in this sensor replacement but i'm a bit sceptical about this as my cruise control is working perfect... isn't it fed by the same speed sensor?

for now i have changed the power steering fluid in my 100k service what was dirty when removed as all oils were i drained from this vehicle

info; you will find the speed sensor on the back of the transfer box. just next to the rear prop shaft exit;

this is the old sensor;

when spinning the small plastic axle you can hear it running with some noise. i bet with some contact cleaner it will run just fine again.

new speed sensor in place, time for a test drive;

funny thou is that on my 2005 sorento i have not found any way to install the 91400 3E999 cord speed sensor. so that's surplus... maybe 'older' models with the round silver speed sensor housing will need this cable? so if you want to replace the speed sensor check it first to save you a tenner for the now not usable cable.

#17 ·
as i recall from memory about £40 incl p&p for both parts.

but before you going to order that cable check your current speed sensor first!

if it's a black sensor you don't need that cable!

i didn't knew this (asall parrots kept telling buy both)and wasted about £10

the speed signal goes to the speedo head first and then spreads out from there to lots of places. so even if the speedo is working it might be getting to the steering controller. the kia multi plugs are not very good, you often get bad connections.

Hi,
Sorry for nicking this thread. I've got a problem with my cruise control. Tried everything andin the end, it was left to replacethe above mentioned speed sensor, whichdidn't solve the issue, I thought I 'd ask here as my question below is more relevant Forster's answer above...

Foster, as you've mentioned 'speed signal goes to the speedo head first and then spreads out from there to lots of places', could there by a problem with speedometer circuit board, causing a connection issue for cruise? As you all know early Sorentos suffer a severe electrical issues

Thanks.
