Most likely a diode failure - the light has a diode between it and the feed from the doors (to stop back feeding of power when you switch the light on locally).

Search the forum for diodes and there are a few threads. You can start with these which gives you an idea of what to look for in the light fitting.
If you find the diode you can test it with a mustimeter (it should conduct one way but not the other) or simply short it out to see if opening the door turns the light on.
