Installing an Android/Carplay Box in the EV3

I have bought an Android/Car Play box and set it up today. It will mirror my iPhone but the image on the screen is in portrait, and if I rotate my phone, the image on the car screen doesn’t rotate. In addition I tried to play something from iPlayer, the sound worked, the video didn't

I think it’ll be going back to the large online retailer it came from

Thanks for your help @EnglishwithLiz which was hugely useful. I didn’t buy the same box as you, I got one from Amazon. After you explaining how it will work, I have got it up and running. I’ve connected to the Play store and downloaded BBC iPlayer.

I have it set up to automatically connect to my iPhone hotspot, and to switch it off I I want to use my phone through the traditional connection, I just press the button next to the USB C port that turns off the data transfer, and my phone instantly connects to the car

I don’t suppose I’ll use it terribly often as I tend to only do a few long journeys a year, so most charging will be at home. But even just while waiting for the wife or daughter while they are having retail fun, or at the gym (the daughter) it’ll while away 5 or 10 minutes. It wasn’t expensive and I do love a gadget!

I got this one, which was ÂŁ71.99 (after 20% off voucher) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DSBSVQL3

I haven’t yet mounted it. I’m considering either a slightly longer cable and putting it in the glovebox (but I worry it’ll suffocate) or a sticky pad and mounting it above the charging mat and below the volume roller switch and hazard switch, on the sloping part between the two (above the front end of the centre console) Currently it’s tucked behind the front end of the centre console, in the little space there.

Thanks also to you @restyler for the thread and the inspiration that this was possible 👍🏼
