Ah a nice bit of rallying. Used to support a local lad on local rallies round here in the 70's, so lots of nice country lanes. Followed the National rallies quite a bit in the Russell Brookes, & Jimmy Mcrae. Back in the Audi Quattro/Escort/Chevette days. Been down to some Wales stages, but mostly the Lakes & Scotland.
Wish I had never thrown all the photo's out now.
Silly boy!!

When I first went sick from the railway I bought a slide scanner and copied thousands of old slides and photos and then edited them to keep the ones I wanted, so I've now got them stored on a memory block.
I spent 3 years "working" for the Skoda Works Team on the RAC, Scottish and Welsh rallies but now marshal, mostly doing Safety Radio and occasionally Stage Safety Officer, mostly in Wales. It is useful living a couple of miles from the Hafren Forest, where I also survey and report on the conditions of the old mines and quarries for NRW.

Believe it or not, back in the 1800s this was the largest lead mining area in the UK!

And an answer to the radio question.

Had to sit outside Morriston Hospital for 2 hours today and can confirm that leaving the ignition in the Aux position the radio does stay on all the time. One slight annoyance is that every 10 minutes or so you get a "bong" and a reminder on screen to turn the engine on.

I have a plug-in voltmeter and it was interesting to see what this showed during this period. When I first stopped it showed 13.7v which is what I would expect just after turning the engine off. This reduced to a steady 13.2v after a short time, and at the end of the time showed 13.1v.

Thanks. Just goes to show that Kia like to put the fear of god into you 😂

Lead acid battery fully charged on charged = 14.3v, fully charged off charge = 13.7v so you charging system is working well.

And we can all do with a little ' bong' every now and then.

Don't you agree :D:D

I have been sitting in my new charriot and trying to sort out things and suffering the 'bongs' too.

You forget that the new Niro doesn't have a lead acid battery for the "domestic" side, like the old one does, but uses part of the traction batteries to provide that.

Gave up those types of bongs many years ago!

Mine has a 12v battery behind the panel on the right inside the tail gate LG. I took the panel off on Wednnesday, being a nosy git, to see what was hiding in there. There's a little round handle just inside the tail gate that says "Open". It looks a bit like the wheel arch, but I was surprised to see it there.

You can always live in hope?:unsure:

It was first registered Nov 2020, so I would think that it too is a 2020 model?

It's blue, so I wonder if that makes a difference :unsure:

Talk about devotion to duty. It's hissing it down out there, but I had to get these photos for you.

Interesting.
As this is my boot in that corner. Just a empty hole  Mine definitely is a 2020 as it has Uvo
Do have a battery reset button though.

I think there's a difference in this regard between the PHEV and the HEV. The PHEV has a separate lead-acid 12V battery whereas the HEV has a Lithium battery tucked away where the traction battery is. The traction battery in the PHEV is bigger so there was probably no room for the same solution as the HEV.

The PHEV doesn't have the battery reset button the HEV has either.

Yep.

This is where having your car in the signature helps. So in the case of the Nero, with 3 different version you can see at a glance (without having to back track through posts in the hope someone has posted their car) just what car people are referring too.

Thanks for the pictures John, but as has been said there does appear to be some confusion about what cars people own. Mines the HEV so doesn't have this.

I agree with "iooi" that adding the EXACT details of what model you own in your signature is useful. (Mind you he then confuses the issue by just stating his is a Hybrid, but not which one!! :))

Niro range.
Self Charging Hybrid, Phev & EV

If I had a PHEV, it would say that. (y)

Note to self... Learn to spell NIRO right

But as has been shown in this thread a lot of people don't realise the difference between the HEV and PHEV, since both are Hybrids, so you just stating that is confusing. Therefore stating HEV or PHEV makes it plainly obvious.

And it's Niro. :)
I've had to add it to my computer dictionary so it doesn't correct it every time!

I did state in the thread heading that we have a HPEV2. New to these things and it should have read PHEV2.

I have put the model in my signature now so there won't be any more confustication, I hope :rolleyes:

It is hidden away and can be seen by clicking on the little arrow head on the top right of the signature. On the screen print below it's pointing upwards.

This is the first forum I have been on that has had this and it didn't occur to me to check it?

My actual signature is below this showing the arrow pointing down.

I think that I am going to have to go and lie down for half hour with all these arrows flying around

Many thanks iooi.

I hadn't realised that only 2 lines would show in the signature. Different forums, different rules init.

I just have our wood burner burning at the moment, but I'll bet that Rome was a bit warmer. No apologies needed. What's needed is a new battery for my glasses and a non dislexique keybaord

Love your wood working stuff, John.
Shame you aren't nearer as I've got a wooden plate that needs some pyrography removing. It needs a lathe to do it and I can't find anyone locally. There used to be a woodworkers club but that has closed due to Covid.
