Hi i have just brought a 53 sedonia 2.5 v6 the evpansion tank keeps filling with water every time it runs . it doesnt overheat untill all the coolant has run through , there is no oil in coolant or coolant in the oil as far as i can see. Anyone had similar issues ay help would be gratefull . thanks dave

Hi to get a cheap indication of the headgasket/head condition - leave vehicle overnight on flat ground, fill the expansion tank to the hilt, squeeze the top and bottom rad pipes to expell air, top up the tank again, leave the cap off the tank, handbrake on in neutral then start the engine look at the expansion tank. If there's any compression escaping into the coolant, the contents will be expelled, then the coolant will look as though it has settled then a few more secondsVesuviuswill erupt again, that's a bad sign, OR OR OR OR go to your local garage and have a compression check done, it's quicker

The first check can only be done when the engine and coolant are cold, preferably after an overnight stand
