Looked at my air filteron my CRDi Rio after the first service as the fuel economy had got quite bad.

According to the manual it's not due for replacement until 25K miles, but it was unbelieveably badly clogged! It was full of sand, dirt, dead flies and even straw!

It is an item that's supposed to be inspected at the first service, but my main dealer obviously didn't bother.

Anyway, I've put a new one in and now there's more power and the fuel economy has improved.

If you're getting similar problems, have a look at your air filter. I've never seen one on a car that's so badly clogged and I don't drive in particularly bad conditions.
