Yes there are prop shaft repairers who can do it a lot cheaper. One for example Recoprop at Luton. Just do a Google search to see if any in your area.

 

Thanks birdman it's a sorento Xe 2009 it's the uj on the rear of the front prop. We have a local bearing company do you think they would be able to do anything with it. Can you separate uj or replace bearings ?

 

You need a specialist as they repair prop and then re balance them and will be as good as new

 

if the cups are held in with a circlipp then easy to replace but if the cups are crimped in then it is specialist with rebalance, there is another place at Lancaster, drive line,

There are two types fittest to Sorentos 4 bolt and 6 bolt type. If yours are staked you will need a specialist.if you look and they have clips you can find UJs to do yourself on EBay for about £25 .Or completed new props for £350.

 

I guess mine is stalked as Kia said I need a new one . If I went to a specialist for a rebuild do you have any idea what I would pay .is that about the 350 you said

 

It is no good guessing at prices unless you look at prop and see what type is fitted to your motor.As I have said if it has clips you can get the joint to replace yourself for £25.If it is staked you can get a brand new shaft for £350.You could get a quote for repairing if staked type which should be cheaper.If not you know what a new one will cost.
