This might be a really stupid question but what are the small plastic flaps that look like mudflaps but are on the front of the wheelarches on all 4 wheels.

They are air brakes, if they are down when you are stationary you need to go back to the dealer and get them to reset the ECU. They work well but will increase fuel consumption if they are in the "activated" position all the time

Not so stupid, I've wondered the same thing .......... our Corolla has them too. Edited by: Klinky

But they are in front of the wheels. Surely any debris would be flung backwards, unless you are extreme off-roading in reverse!
