Had a very bad experience this week the front passenger seat belt gave of a mighty bang when I looked at the housing it has cracked, today I took it to a garage and was told it had exploded, I dread to think what would have happened if my disabled wife had been sitting up front. Has anybody else had a similar experience

It's not as scary as you may think. It's the seat belt pre tensioners that are there to remove as much slack in the belt as fast as possible in a crash. The fact that reacted as it did suggests that is had been damaged or been faulty from the factory. I would say 99% of manufactures buy the actual fitting from an outside sourse and don't produce them thereselfs. I wouldn't say it's common on any vehicle, but definitely not isolated to kia's

Also, get the car on a fault finder. You may have a faulty impact sensor that triggered it.
