Drove car a few times recently for approx 30 minutes over a 25 mile distance, before current freezing weather conditions, left parked outside for approx 1 hour. on start up, at idle there is now a horrendous rattle noise evident from exhaust tailpipe coupled with a vibration felt through pedals, steering wheel etc, the noise smoothes out when lightthrottle is applied but returns when back to an idle state. I suspect exhaust manifolds. Any ideas ?

Your description suggests to me that one exhaust systemmounting bracket or suspension point has failed and this will allow the exhaust system to move about sometimes quite substantially and bang on the body creating a lot of noise and pounding to be heard and felt within the body structure of the car.

Its very unlikely to be the exhaust manifolds.

Get you dealer to look at it quite urgently, as the exhaust system may get damaged and begin to break up if left for very long.
