Can anyone advise me how I set the escort lighting on my 2011 sportage to on. My friend has exactly the same car and when he pulls up and gets out of the car (at night) his lights remain on for 20-30 seconds yet I can't seem to get mine to do this. My lights are set to auto. Can anyone help me with this. Didn't know if you had to do anything with the key fob whilst it was in ignition. Or if my car has a fault given my friends car will do this and they are identical cars.

regards

if you only click the lock button on the fob once then the lights will remain on for 20ish seconds, but if you double click the lock button then the lights will go off straight away.

My lights don't stay on full stop when i turn the ignition off. I have them set to auto but as soon as i arrive at my destination (at Night - dark) take the keys from ignition lights all go out. Could this be a fault with the car then.

i will have to check tonight when it is dark but i think they may stay on and not go off. don't want to kill the battery. When yours are on is your switch set to auto or on

thanks

I don't really use the AUTO function, so mine are ON at night.

They stay on for 20 seconds or so by themselves and then automatically switch off.

Alternatively, if you click LOCK twice on the key fob, they will turn off immediately.

I would 'guess' that these type of functions can be configured by the dealer ? I know on my last car (BMW) there was a lot of user preferences that could be set up to suit the owner, even my local independant was able to do it

Yeah this may be the case I have tried everyway possible tonight to get the lights to remain on but the minute I open the drivers door and remove ignition key they just go straight out. May have to speak to dealer tomorrow if no one has any further ideas. Thanks for all your help though.

Hi Nathan,

I don't know whether the specifications have changed or not. Mine is a year old now but definitely does not behave like this.

If you've checked the manual, I suppose a call to your Dealer is the next logical step.

its probably a feature that can be altered in the car's software -- most cars have extra features where the garage can plug in their laptop and switch these features on or off

Mine does like it should - KX2 AWD no auto lights, I can tell when I need to turn the lights on because it is dark

With the lights on stop - engine off - lights stay on. Get out and close door and lock lights remain on for a short while or until I lock again.

Correct term I believe is 'Get You Home Lights'.

I prefer Norwich City FC

Thanks for your comments si952

Correct term according to owners manual is "escort lighting" (if equipped)

Mine won't do it even when I follow your steps. Booked in to see dealer Friday. Hope they can remedy this.

Also you are assuming itfc stands for Ipswich town football Club, you should never assume these things lol..........

Thanks for comments anyways
