hi does your kia rio 1.3 /03 run cold when driving normally but temp rises on tick over no water loss or overheating can any one advise how to cure problem and no pressure build up can remove rad cap after long journey

Could be radiator cap,should be a certain amount of pressure in the system. Failing that the thermostat should be the next port of call. Both are inexpensive fixes.

Yeah, the radiation from the onboard nuclear reactor can be a killer...

Thanks all i have replaced the radiator cap and the thermostat pressure tested the system all ok but still running cold

Sounds like the sensor is faulty, or it could be the connector or wiring from the sensor. Have you removed the sensor connector and cleaned it with a cloth and a squirt of WD40?



You could test the sensor by removing it from it's housing,and placingit in a cup of boiling water. Then withthe ignition in the ACC position, you should see the gauge go to the HOT end.
