Hi guys ,

my 2012 Sorrento has been making whining noises when over 30mph.
Looks like the culprit is from a leaking NSF diff seal as oil present .
Anyone had similar issues ?
Garage said about sending off the transmission to be refurbishment!! I guess that wont be cheap :(

car has done 125K miles and was looking to trade it in last month anyway ! Wish I had now

any fixes that will stop the whining noise ? Possibly drain and change the oil to a better quality ?
Thanks

If it is actually the diff then at least check the fluid level, that may fix the noise if the level is currently too low.
Better quality oil may not be possible as it most likely has the quality or specification that it needs.
Try the spec that is in the user manual before you try "better" qualities, an oil change may reduce the leak.

if that dosn't help then there are additives that supposedly swell rubber seals, could be worth a try.
Looks like the right front driveshaft seal may just be replaceable on the vehicle.
