My Diesel engine is generally pretty quiet and smooth in normal use, however i was giving it some beans last night to clear it out and as the revs rise in the gears - the engine note changes distinctly at different rev ranges...probably goes through 3 distinct quite hoary notes. I assume its the timing changing as the revs build. (Pretty sure my Fiat did something similar)..... its one of the reasons i dont really like pushing it. I assume other diesel owners have noticed this???.

The C`eed I had sounded the same, something to do with the turbo ramming more air into the system. In fact Icame to enjoy the sound. The boy racer in me still lives.!

Hi peeps,

Sorry I've not been around, been hectic since we got home.

I love the sound of the engine.

I'm off to Derby on Sat so if anyone is on the M50, M5, M6 & M42.........

It'll also give me a chance clean the system (hehe) and to test the MPG - at the mo i'm getting 999mpg downhill & 21mpg uphill.
