Dangerous driver assistance !!

I want to make it clear that I don’t trust any automated driver assistance, I always check and take control when needed.
On Friday 3rd Oct I was travelling from Filey in Yorkshire to Peterborough 154 miles, not nice weather and raining most of the way.
I normaly use adaptive cruise control, lane centering and wing mirror and HUD blind spot warning, I have always found these ASSIST in a more relaxed drive.
BUT on this drive they all went wrong SOME of the time so I turned them off (the lane centering).
The blind spot warning was just totally unreliable. I was keeping to approx 60mph on the M roads and A1 so there was a fair amout of traffic overtaking me the blind spot warning picked up on less than half of them, both LH and RH side.
But the lane centering was downright dangerous!! It tried to put me in a roadside ditch twice on A roads. And into the side of lorries on M roads.
I will be bringing this up with KIA.

Kia themselves warn in the manual that any of the driver assistance warning sensors can be affected by bad weather, in particular heavy rain, snow, mud etc. and should not be relied on in such conditions. In fact they recommend in these conditions that adaptive cruise and lane assist should not be used.

You are obviously having problems with your ability to read.
My post clearly states :-
I ALWAYS CHECK AND TAKE CONTROL WHEN NEEDED.
and
THEY WENT WRONG SOME OF THE TIME SO I TURNED THEM OFF.

So if I read your opening post correctly, then you are saying you ignored Kia’s advice in the manual, and went ahead using the systems they recommended turning off in bad weather, and then made a post complaining that the systems didn’t work properly in bad weather and you had to turn them off.
It’s a bit like when the instructions say don’t put metal objects in the microwave, but you tried it anyway, then when it did exactly what they said it would, you contact the manufacturer to complain.
I’d be very interested to see Kia’s reply to you.

Oh no! Not another senior member who cannot read or expands on what I have said.
Firstly I must profusely apologise for the mistake I made:- I said “I would contact KIA”, I meant to say “I would contact my KIA dealer”.
Secondly I said “not nice weather and raining most of the way”. It was not snowing, hailing, foggy or stormy, it was ordinary rain to put a finer point on it the wipers were on auto, and were mostly intermittently wiping. And sometimes, not wiping at all !!
Thirdly Please don’t take the “senior member” as a insult it is referring to over 1k posts.
Oh by the way “SARCASM is the lowest form of wit”
It’s a bit like when the instructions say don’t put metal objects in the microwave, but you tried it anyway, then when it did exactly what they said it would, you contact the manufacturer to complain.

I am finding your constant snipes tedious, I will not be responding on this discussion anymore.
May you all have a good day.

Similarly, the 'collision avoidance' setting that braked my vehicle when I was cut-up at a roundabout, despite me seeing the other vehicle coming, adjusting my speed and covering my brake pedal in readiness. The driver of the car behind me wasn't too impressed!

I have just completed a longer, but similar journey. I live in SW Wales and a close friend was taken ill who lives in Harwich, Essex. I went to visit him. Too long a journey to complete in one day (350 miles), so broke the journey at Bath. Most of the journey was M4, M25 northbound and A12.
I don’t like cruise control, adaptive or otherwise, so never use it. The attention warning tells me I'm not concentrating within 100 metres from home, so that goes off. The lane assists goes off, shortly afterwards. I do leave the speed warning on - it does help to keep me aware... i found the blind spot warning worked perfectly, both L & R, which is good on a motorway. The Sat Nav worked brilliantly it found my grandson's parking car park, right through the centre of bath. The HUD is good on the motorway. It seems to know which gantry has speed cameras and which ones are 'average' speed limits and showed them on the screen and you average speed! Although the near 30" info screen is good, I would prefer a 'portrait' version. When driving on unfamiliar roads, you want to know what's ahead, not what's to each side. The Sat Nav did seem to know of holdups on-route (press menu bottom right) although it never suggested a re-route...
Unfortunately my friend died and I returned home - 700 mile round trip.
I have just completed the same journey again for his funeral.
The only bad weather (naturally), was once I crossed the Severn Bridge back into Wales. It rained heavily both times, but I found the blind spot warning was not affected.
Finally I had never used public charging in the 3 years I've had an EV: it was challenging and cost 10 times what it does at home!!
