I would be fuming and ask for the money back rude .....Stoped at my dealer today to complain about the radio reception and the freezing display. Was told to listen to FM because DAB is different and doesnt work properly. To say I wasn’t impressed would be an understatement!!
Shocking and another lame dealer it would seem.Stoped at my dealer today to complain about the radio reception and the freezing display. Was told to listen to FM because DAB is different and doesnt work properly. To say I wasn’t impressed would be an understatement!!
Me to….more than a geek, I’m Chartered Engineer in RF, although broadcast stuff isn’t my specialism 😉 - but the same-ish propagation fundamentals apply regardless.Sounds like LG may have some appropriate monitoring code which should be able to sort out if it's a signal/antenna issue or electronic.
I have a Stonic 1st Edition and DAB performance is as I'd expect, some signal loss where I know the path to the transmitter is screened (I'm a RF geek) The antenna is however a rod as opposed to a sharks fin. I would not trust sharks fins as they are not optimum for (or anywhere near) the DAB radio frequencies. They are compromises.
That’s really positive mate. It’s been two weeks since I was told issue/fault was sent to Technical and not heard anything yet, I don’t expect to for a bit to be honest. Sounds like this is getting a bit of traction..It would seem I could be making progress. Here’s the latest from dealer:
“Following your last email we escalated the case with Kia Technical they in turn have spoken to LG. The outcome of this is that we have been given a one off code to access the history of the dab signal strength. LG would like us to access the unit to record the occasions when the unit has lost signal. We will need the car for around 1 hr to do this”
Yes, hopefully of help to others now who have the same issue. Get back to your dealers and tell them you know they can do this level of diagnosis … so they best get on with it 😉That’s really positive mate. Case Reference –xxxxxxxxx Dear Mr xxxxx Thanks for your recent contact. I’m sorry to hear you’re disappointed with the information provided by your local Kia dealer. If this matter has already been investigated and identified we require an update, I’m afraid we’d be unable to change the decision made. Our software updates are releases quarterly and we’d suggest staying in touch with your dealership who’ll be able to advise when this is released. If there’s anything else I can help you with, please get in touch via email or phone on 0333 2022 990. Kind regards xxxxxxxxxxxxx Customer Service Advisor Kia UK Limited |

There’s one due imminently….it was announced in Apr. I’ll find the announcement and post up.also asked them when the next update is due, and was told to ask my Kia Dealer not very helpfull
Which is believed to refer to the Feb update & only applies to MY22 cars.
Ahh, thanks….that would make sense as the Feb update I have has included OTA on my system now.Which is believed to refer to the Feb update & only applies to MY22 cars.
Best guess for the rest of us is sometime in the near future (who knows when) & do not expect to see anything on the update site.
As we have found MY22 E-Niro has updated files from April. Bit no mention of them, or the page that used to show all the files being updated either.
Only real way now seems to be start download of your file. Then check the .VER file for the date in the top line. This opens in wordpad or notepad![]()
Merged to this thread as it is related to the subject.Hi does the fm side of the radios work ok or is it just the dabs side faulty thanks.
