Was supposed to get a 2020 '20' plate e-Niro in a few days however, the dealer called to say they were shutting down 'cos of the virus. No staff in the branches. My car is in the UK somewhere en route to the dealership.

I didn't want to grumble -- we're all in this together etc.

But my question is: do I stand to lose out in terms of new car registration value? If the crisis continues for say another 6 months and I'm unable to pickup my car, then by August we'll be into the '70' (August) car reg plates.

I'm not one who needs a brand new reg plate -- it means not very much to me. . . but do I get to ask for a '70' if this drags on?

Afraid that is a question that only time will answer.
Yes if it gets close to the 1st Sept.
Although you may have to really twist dealers arm on it as I think it could well be a very busy time for them.

I picked my car up last Friday, 20th. I live very close to Immingham. The car was delivered to my Scunthorpe dealer on Thursday. It was not registered with DVLA until the Friday. Main franchise dealers will not register the car until it is in their hands. My car was on order from last April and could have been delivered Dec/Jan but I told the dealer I wanted it on a 20 plate and it was held back until then. Hope this helps but in reality, it's not a problem these days, mileage & MY are far more important.

You could be like me, brand new car sat on the drive and we can't go anywhere in it (except for shopping). I'm itching to be using my car and it is just sat gathering dust.

My E-Niro, with 86 miles on the clock, had a pool of liquid on the garage floor this morning. It hadn't been used for 2 days. Because of Covid & workshops closed etc, I had to call Kia Assist. Now it just so happens that one of my neighbours is an RAC patrol and it was he who turned up. After much discussion, and lack of any further evidence, we decided it was cat piss!!:eek:

Well, it hasn't leaked again so I suppose the original diagnosis and taste test were correct. I've managed to drive it a total of 100 miles now, trickle charged it a couple of times using my solar PV, just for the hell of it, and I'm averaging circa 4mpkW. No A/c or electric bits apart from the infotain. Feeling sorry for you guys who still have to wait. :poop:

We ordered our e-niro June last year and are still waiting, our dealer says August maybe. We had a test drive of a Hyundai Kona-e last week, same power train as the Kia. Good to drive, boot too small, hardly any leg room in the rear where you can't even get your feet under the front seat. Tyres are horrible Nexens', why skimp a couple of hundred quid on a £40K car and put something decent on like the Michelins as on the Kia? The drive controls are so far back on the centre consul, I had to get my wife to change settings.
Anyway long and short is the dealer could look on his system and see how many cars of the one we thought about having were on a ship bound for UK.
Our existing PCP ends in August so rear end starting to twitch a little already.
