I have a Kia Picanto (64 model) and I bought it almost new (demo model). At around 20,000 miles it had clutch issues and they replaced them. At 45,000, the clutch failed again and had to be replaced. I asked the garage for clarification and they were not forthcoming. Finally they told me this:

"The first clutch failed due to an associated part failing the clutch cable which caused the clutch to fail and not the clutch unit . The 2nd repair was a mechanical failure of the clutch assy."

I am concerned moving forward that in another 20,000 miles, the clutch will fail again so wanted to ask any of you if you had similar issues?

What were you're symptoms with the first clutch failure?

My Picanto is only 2.5yrs old with 50k miles on the clock. The clutch pedal has become really hard to push. The clutch isn't slipping, so I'm wondering if this could just be a problem with the Cluth Cable. The local dealership has been less than helpful so far.
