You are correct the cutout for the handbrake is on the wrong side.
It is also not the official armrest from Kia and you end up with having to drill holes around the outside of the plastic to fix it which isn't very clean to look at.
You can get the proper one from Kia which slots in to the rear storage tray (the one behind the handbrake). The screws to fix it in place then go down inside the unit so they are out of site.
The Kia armrest prices etc can be seen on their accessories pdf on the site.
It is certainly worth paying more for one that fits correctly.

I've recived email saying the cut out is on the other side.

I would like one too.... but £150.00 is a lot of dosh. I still get in the Soul after over a year now and still miss the arm rest from my Fiat.

I got a quote from Viking Paul for the Arm rest
"sorry this part is not currently available from factory retail price is
£149 best deal i could do would be £124 plus postage don't have one in
stock can put it on order if you wish"
Still not sure.
