Hi Guys,

I've just picked up an 05 diesel Carens for peanuts as it had the
dreaded gearbox problems. My neighbour who is a mechanic sorted that,
but I just don't yet have any confidence in this car.

I owned my old Peugeot for 10 years and knew that if it started, I'd get to my destination and back.

This car has only 80K on it, 70k less than my old car. Am I being paranoid. Is the Carens reliable.

You said & I quote: "I've just picked up an 05 diesel Carens for peanuts" so why worry? If it was as cheap as I suspect it to be then you pays your money & takes your choice.
All my Mk2 Carens were reliable but I maintained them way above the norm as breakdowns cost me far more than the average motorists. The gearbox is the 1 majorweak point, you've got that sorted, now enjoy the ride at the severely budgeted cost & turn the stereo up if you hear a rattle!
