Hi mate
Sorry for the shout out, looked under the pedals on my carens crdi, Noticed to switches, One under the brake large multi-plug, thinking brake lights and??????, then saw one under clutch pedal??????, Why a switch under the clutch Pedal, also Could the switch under the brake pedal have something to do with the sudden loss of power i had a couple of weeks ago,

again sorry fot the shout out

Switches are on both pedals for the ecu, ecu needs to know when your braking or have clutch dipped to cut fuel accordingly.
In some markets the clutch switch is also used to lock out the starter if the clutch isn't down.

Yes a faulty/badly adjusted brake switch could cause loss of power.

Thought as much the rubber grommet over the pedal stop has worn a hole through,

span it around and now is on afirmer position, I tried to cheat the system on a quiet back road i held my foot on the acc pedal and touched the brake the car did the same as my sudden loss of power thread, Released the brake car stutterd and was fine, What a bugger all because the grommet had a dimple in it, hope fully thats the cause,................well we will see.
