Antenna been broken off again? here is a step by step photo guide get that radio working again.
Part 1 of 2:

1. buy a new antenna

2. get hold of the following tools:

3. determine how much male thread remains in the hole, using something safe to stand on

4. center punch, not with a hammer, use a self releasing punch.

5. lube, then drill 3-4mm dia hole

6. try to get the remaining stub out with one of these.

7. if unsuccessful then drill out the whole stub using 4.2 mm dia drill.

8. confirm what thread size the new antenna has, most Asian antennas seem to be the same. M5x0.8mm

9. Tap the 4.2mm hole using a M5x0.8mm tap

10. Vacumm out any debris from the hole, then install the new antenna.

remember that this type of antenna is not compatible with any type of automatic car wash

This is an excellent guide and exactly what I am looking for. Pretty much what I thought but the screw threads, bit and tap sizes etc save a lot of trial and error.
