I have a 2007 crdi rio been a really good car to me so far.
Always have it serviced on time and has now covered 54000 trouble free miles.
The other morning when starting from cold i noticed as it fired up there was a puff of blue smoke that blew along the side of the car.
The car had been serviced the day before so thought it might have something to do with that.
The rest of the day it started with no smoke and when booted only the normal black/browndiesel smoke which it has always done.
The next day when starting from cold it did the same again and has done every day since.
I just wondered if anyone else had had this happen and any ideas what it is, ive had diesel cars before that have done it but they were much older with many more miles on the clock.
Dont really want to dealer to start investergating if its a common problem.

If it is only doing it when cold i would suggestcheckingglow plugs.

Thanks I did think about that but as I'm not really mechanically minded wasn't sure.

I had same problem with my Sorento and although it started OK, two of the glow plugs had packed up,i put a new set of 4 in and no more smoke on starting.I also had the problem when i had a Discovery and again new glow plugs cured it.

check the oil also might have too much in kia exact measure is between th levelsagree with others possible also glow plugs wont be all 4 though need to look at prices not
cheap for genuine ones

had a couple of warmer mornings and its not done it so i spose its leaning towards glowplugs.
i have been looking at prices just under £20 each for non gen.

Make sure you check your oil. Most of the times I've had the car serviced it's been overfilled, often above the full mark by nearly half an inch!
