I have a high pitched squeal when I start the car in the morning, which amazingly turns off when I switch off the heater (incidentally, this is not performing very well in the cold) any ideas? Would appreciate your help people................(keeps fingers crossed its not a very expensive job)

Hi, Not sure but a very common cause of the kind of sound you describe, especially at this time of year, is a leaf or leaf debris becoming stuck by the heater fan. Hence sound goes when heater turned off. Most of the Kia cars have a pollen filter which should keep this rubbish out, but as I know some will find its way through. Its a matter of locating your filter& checking/cleaning/replacing as needed, and clean out the compartment where it fits. If the Kia Garage has to do this get a estimate first then you will know what to expect. The longer its left the more chance there is of the motor itself becoming damaged, if its not already & that is expensive. Cheers Gasman.
