Hi guys, recently purchased a 2012 KX3 2.0 AWD. Now & then the AWD warning light comes on & stays on until I stop car & restart, it doesn’t happen every day just occasionally.

Anyone have any ideas or had it happen to them?

Car runs perfectly with light on, just want to find out what’s occurring with the warning light and how to fix it.

It would seem that the AWD system has detected a fault (occasionally). The light is telling you that it might not be operating.

The only sensible way to diagnose this is to get the error codes read - anything else is groping in the dark,

Whilst I've no idea what the fault might be, it may be worth checking your tyres.
The AWD can be prone to getting it's knickers in a twist if the tyres are worn unevenly.

Sensors detect that one wheel is spinning faster than the other.

The general concensus is to have evenly worn tyres on each axle, with worn tyres on the rear.

Worn tyres have a smaller circumference therefore are spinning at a slower rate.

Contacted dealer who’s diagnosed a fault so it’s having the AWD system hydraulic actuator replaced!
Luckily it’s still got 9 months left of the Kia 7 year warranty, so all covered by that otherwise might have been looking at a bill of £1400 😳
Taken out an extended warranty on it now for another 18 months.
