Hi I have just bought a beautiful 2000 model X reg Kia Sedona 2.9 diesel automatic. It runs beautifully but on way home from work last evening, I was driving on the motorway and the gears stopped working and I had to coast to a halt and the vehicle was transported home.I went out this morning and it started first time as always and lo and behold when I put it in drive, the gears worked....I have been advised by a mechanic friend that it will need a gearbox fluid change and possibly a filter cleaned.
Can anyone advise this newbie on this? Has anyone had a similar experience?

Can anyone point me to a PDF of the workshop manual, which I am willing to pay for/

I look forward to many happy chats with you

If you have just brought it, why not send it back to the garage? It should be under waranty for the 1st 3 months at least. If you have brought it privately, chances are they took it to the garage, saw how much it was going to cost to repair and got rid. Not saying it could be worse than a filter & fluid change but it's worth having it looked at by an auto transmission specialist.
