I have a Carens 2010 2.0 diesel and recently I have noted that my aircon goes from cold to ambient and back to cold when running. It does not stay cold all the time but seems to change every minute or so. I have had my system recharged and check for pressure leaks and all seems ok. Would this be a possible pump problem. My car has been dealer serviced from new and its due to have its cambelt done next July, should I ask that the pump be changed. Sorry to be so vague but I know very little about cars

Do you have Digital Climate Control?
I believe this is only on the LS Model. The S and GS having Manual AC.

No climate control, just manual adjustment. If I turn the aircon to full cold it fluctuates in temp......

What was the outside Air Temperature when you tried this?
It seems a bit cold out to have the AC set so low.

Some AC Compressors (pump) will not run when the outside Temp is low.

Sounds like the Compressor is kicking in and out.
This could be due to outside Temp, Low Gas (although you have had this checked), Compressor Clutch or some Electrical Control.

A new Compressor will be very expensive.
If you are certain there is a fault, an AC specialist would be better than Kia or a Fast Fit Centre at diagnosing the actual cause.
