“Took my Cee’d Sportwagan 1.6 2015 into last warranty check on Aircon which was not working well last years July 2021 heatwave. They told me the Aircon is correct pressure and no leaks, temperatures coming into car correct.
They made a suggestion that the temp had been set to Auto Control. The temperature should be set fixed say 18deg in hot weather and if it’s too cold move it up until comfortable.
Has anyone else been told this story?”

That makes no sense to me. You need to articulate what your actual issue is....

Does it get hot when you turn it up? And cold when you turn it down?

Make sure your pollen filter isn't filthy as well.

Yes it made no sense to me, pollen filter replaced a year ago.

Aircon not copping the hot day conditions tried external air in and recirculate air within the car.
It apparently is all ok on a cold March day. I agree cold air is delivered when not needed.
Can’t test again until the temperature outdoor gets to 28 degs again?
This may be to late for Warranty claim.

I < (added) Never use AUTO temp. But even if you did, setting to min should see cold air coming out.

So if getting into a hot car that is wind temp down to min, turn fan up to max till car is cool. (windows open a bit to let hot air out)

Maybe take it to a aircon specialist to see what they say.

iooi said "Never use AUTO temp." Why? I've used it on my last 3 cars in the last 10 years. Never had a problem in use all year-round, never needed a re-gas. Use it or lose it.

Should have had a "I" in front 🤦‍♂️

I always have A/C on, as you say. It's there & has benefits. Modern cars A/C is electric powered, not driven off the engine.

I defiantly have Aircon compressor driven by belt from engine which must effect the fuel consumption if on, I don’t turn it off winter as it supposed to demist the windscreen quicke?

A/C is much more efficient than it used to be. The electric clutch means that the pully essentially freewheels when the AC is not on (or when the computer tells it that it can) and in only works as hard as it needs to based on a number of variables. They also generally disengage the clutch under heavy load or acceleration too so as not to sap performance from the vehicle.

Real world fuel economy change? Probably the same as having underinflated tyres

I have checked the label under bonnet the A/c Gas used is R-1234yf, according to advertising the gas can be purchased with a pressure gauge and DIY instructions £46 ? . This is something Kwik-fit wouldn’t do because they don’t stock the modern type of Gas. Anyone had experience of this?

What are you truing to achieve? Are you qualified to diagnose and fix? Better taking it to a specialist, or even someone like ATS Euromaster who advertise re-gassing [AIR CON REGAS R1234YF | ATS Euromaster].

If you can't achieve what you want you'll have wasted £50 on the kit and then another £150 getting it sorted.

Usually in the lead up to hotter weather, plenty of garages will offer an A/C regassing for reasonable prices

I will take your advice and book it in to ATS Europemaster. As Kia only guarantee Aircon 2 years. This was the first problem I has with Aircon

Why go to a tyre depot when a specialist air-con company will do a genuine job? And they will probably charge no more than the amateurs at the tyre depot who they have only had half an hour's tuition?

Never give your money to Kwik Fit.

I had my Proceed re-gassed at KIA last year; I don't think at seven years old that is so bad for a consumable.

This was asked earlier and could be the cause of the problem.

Does the Temperature at all Vents change when you turn the Temp Up and Down?
The Air Temp Mix Door Actuators can fail.

My 2008 Ceed had one fail.
Warm Afternoon and would not cool sufficiently. I initially thought it was low Gas or a Leak.
Cold Morning the following Day and would only provide lukewarm Air.
