I looked at the US Kia Global Information System (where global = N America!) and they quote 1.12 lbs ofR 134-A for all US models of the Sportage....yours might be the same??

Hi Chrisbee how this helps.

Add the same amount of new refrigerant oil to system that was removed during recovery. Use only Specified refrigerant oil. Charge the system with 18.0 ± 0.88 oz. (510 ± 25g) of R-134a refrigerant. Do not overcharge the system the compressor will be damaged.

Oil total volume in system :

120~135cc (4.05~4.56 fl.oz ) - β engine

200~215cc (6.76~7.27 fl.oz) - D engine, δ engine

You maybe safer to have an aircon company to recharge it for you as they can check for leaks.

Bob.

Thanks for the info. I also found the quantity elsewhere given as 485-535gms which equates to the 1.12 lb. I actually do air conditioning on heavy trucks for the main dealerI work for but my reference book only showed Sportages up to '05. Only managed to recover 400 gms so the full charge should be better.
