If its a 2006 (new shape) on. Check the A/C pipe under the floor pan (under drivers seat area) they are held on by plastic clips that wear through the pipe leaking all gas/lube oil out. I'm on my third

If the gas in the system is too low the compressor will not start, that could be why you're not hearing it working. Normallythecooling effect is lost gradually (about 10%or so each year) but if it's happened suddenly it may well have developed a leak.

I had mine regassed twice by Kwik Fit. Their machine said no leak was detected and clearly it was leaking -- big time !. In the end I called in a specialist mobile air con firmwho were more expensive but they knew exactly what they were talking about and they sorted it out.

I have an 07 Sedona and my aircon did not work at all at the start of the hot weather. I had it regassed and it is fine now. I was told that because the car is large and has aircon in back as well as front it uses up the gas more quickly because it has to work harder.

hi i had the same problem with the leaking pipe under the drivers side, kia quotes stupid money to replace it, found a great local a/c specialist who repaired the leaking pipe by cutting and fitting new bits, and re gassed it, did on my drive and i paid 80% less than the dealer.
now very happy and very cool. :)

p.s. the chap who came out told me that a/c units dont actually use any gas, it should be a sealed system, any loss will be a leak.

hi,
the chap i used was acdcairconditioning.co.uk, (01159304730), they cover derbys and notts, i had 3 leaks on the pipe under the car, they cut and replaced the damaged sections and re gassed it, took then a couple of hours and did it on my drive, think it was just over £100, 18 months later still working perfectly. think they used a different type of metal pipe so it wouldnt wear through again.
hope this helps.

Anybody any idea what thread sizes the air con valve caps are? Our 2008 Sedona air con wasn't working but a refill got it working fine. However the caps were missing too and the garage that did the refill found one in their kit of parts for the high side but didn't have one to fit the lowside. Kia don't supply them unless you buy that section of pipe!! Anyway online I can see M13, M9 and M8. I suppose I could just buy one of each and see which one fits!

just go to any breakers yard as the fitting for air con system are standard so any one off any modernish car should fit.
