Hi there

I have just purchased a kia ceed 1.4 sr on an 08 plate, i have only had this for 3 weeks and has only done 4000 miles since new...

Today the ABS light came on and went off again after about 5 minutes of the car sitting idle and has not came back on yet.

Any ideas on what the problem could be? Should I get in touch with the dealer? car was fully serviced and mot'd with no advisorys when purchased...

Any help would be appreciated

If it happens again take it to a dealer, assuming you have a fuly stamped service book. Could be a faulty sensor. 7 year warranty!

Probably just a faulty sensor, if it came on and went off again while idle.

Do a quick visual check around your brakes and check the brake fluid levels to see if anything looks unusual. Try and visit a garage to 'plug the car in' and check for any faults that are recorded if you can.

I remember many years ago when I had my Volvo 480, driving down a very steep hill and halfway down the abs lights suddenly lit up - very scary moment. Turned out to be nothing more than a dirty sensor, but ALWAYS worth getting checked.
