There are a number of posts, in multiple threads, that draw attention to real and perceived issues with the latest (2021) software which, over time may have been addressed by Kia.

I would like this thread to give KCS the opportunity to confirm matters as they progress. So can I ask other posters to hold off until KCS respond please. Once Kia respond you are welcome to add or comment on the matters raised.

Are KCS able to please confirm the following;

a) The Speed Camera alerts are now given when a camera alert sign is approached in addition to a actual camera location - an understanding of what constitutes a 'Camera Alert' sign would be helpful
b) Speed Limits, displayed on the Nav Screen, have now been rectified to display the correct Speed Limits - early update adopters, with the issue of -1 0r +1 MPH,, should have the SW updated to correct data files
c) The SW does not, intentionally, direct Nav audio to the LH speaker, reports of that issue being attributed to some users settings or potential faults in users kit - which should be inspected by a dealer.

Hi Radiorail

- Speed camera alerts have now been updated on Telematics cars to include all known camera sites including mobile types. As mentioned on the other recent thread, there are further improvements expected shortly. We can't guarantee an alert in the vicinity of every sign, whether in a mobile or fixed camera location due to the time gaps in data collection.

- Yes, the speed limit issue was resolved by the later batch of files released the month after the original summer 2021 update.

- We've been made aware of only a handful of cases and haven't been able to replicate any speaker issue arising as a result of recent updates. Anyone experiencing this should visit a dealer so data can be gathered and sent off to our Quality team assuming it can't be fixed with the user's phone / infotainment settings.

Dear KCS,

Thanks for acknowledgement.
One more question please:

Who will pay the dealer for another software update to get these issues resolved?

Thanks in advance.

In addition to the matters covered by my opening post it's appropriate to also record that KCS have confirmed that Live Data is still provided by TomTom and that, at present, there are no plans to change that.

If I remember correctly some owners with 8" screens were experiencing issues with the 'sky' taking up more of the screen than before meaning there is less room for the maps.

Hi macho

Regarding the speed limit issue, if the new files were already available to the dealer but they accessed the incorrect older file, they should cover the cost of the second update and we can instruct them accordingly.

Otherwise, we'll cover it providing:

  • The customer had the original summer 2021 update carried out at a dealer.
  • The dealer demonstrates this resulted in the touchscreen displaying incorrect speed limits (as this didn't occur on all models).
  • The original update was carried out before the new files were released to dealers.

This cannot be retrospectively claimed against a 2022> update.

just out of interest. What version should be installed now then from dealerships? I’ve just had mine done and it’s version 13.47 that was installed. I’ve seen other posts on here of a version 14.xx but just assumed the version installed would be the latest version available at the time. is it that different cars and models have slightly different versions and some do not need version 14 etc?

it’s not a problem though as happy that I now have the newer 2021 software and map update but wondered if another version was available and if so what exactly does the newer version change?
