Hi all

Kia UK are delighted to announce the release of the latest map and software updates for all factory fitted head units.

Our dealers have now received their bulletins for this procedure but please note SD cards are being posted over the next few days.We recommend making contact with your dealer next week to enquire about making a booking as our servicing teams won't wish to arrange before SD cards have been received and checked.

We can confirm:

- The £25 charge remains and this is to be retained by your dealer for their workshop time.
- All platforms must receive both software and map updates combined.
- Software updates will provide (when available) enhancements to Bluetooth compatibility, additional features e.g. connected services and bug fixes.
- The package includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for those vehicles with head unit / steering wheel compatibility. (Please PM us your VIN if you'd like us to check)

Kind regards

Hi,

I am buying a mobile phone for my new Kia Niro (version 2) (bought 6.2.2107) which is, virtually small enough to fit into the area in front of the gear lever; a Samsung J5 and will wait (if approved) ) for the 2017 version which has Android 7 fitted, which is soon to be released to the public.

Has version 7 been cleared for the electronics to work with the electronics in my Niro please? Is this included in the map etc update perhaps?

Hi Peter

As it stands, the Samsung Galaxy J5 hasn't been tested running Android 7. This coming update may allow this version to work with your
Niro but we cannot confirm until tested. So if you do decide to buy Android 7,
you may well get partial compatibility but we can't guarantee full compatibility
or a date when full compatibility will be available.

We recommend you keep checking our connectivity centre at
monthly intervals for changes to fully tested handsets / software versions. You
can do this at the following link:

Hi,
Thanks for the reply (which is 'not yet'); I will keep an eye open for a later reply.

Incidentally
just this afternoon Samsung, have released Android version 6,0.1 as
a download, for the J5 2016!

The update loading is available at http://www.android.gs/update-samsung-galaxy-j5-2016/

It is already supplied (ready fitted) on other Samsung
phones already.

Yours Peter.

Could you tell me if my Optima will receive the Android Auto update please? It's a 2015 64 Plate '2' and has the navigation with Infinity sound system. I've been trying to find out for ages whether or not my car will be getting the upgrade but no luck so far.

hi Kia, would a MY16 66 Plate Sportage beable to have this update ?

Hi CH3zzzer

The MY16 Sportage unfortunately can't be retrospectively
made compatible with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. These apps were only added
to Sportage specs with the introduction of MY17 which features a new head unit
that has functionality for these apps.

2016 Sportage will still receive software enhancements where
available and the new map.

May I compliment KCS for the way they are trying to keep us all in the picture. It must be a nightmare with the way "technology" changes almost by the minute.

Well done guys and gals ‘

hi can you tell us exactly what the bug fixes are

sure you will agree we are not paying for bug fixes

Hi Craig

The £25 charge is for the dealer's workshop time. For convenience, we bundle in all available software enhancements with each annual map update. We have no information on particular bug fixes. They can be any number of fixes that improve functionality but depending on the model and when it was last connected at a dealer, there may not even be any fixes required.

It's nice to read compliments for the KCS team.

We are very lucky to have them as a posting member and they add to the kiaownersclub.co.uk experience.

In my capacity as your Forum Moderator/Admin I have had contact with the KCS team on numerous occasions over the last 6 years and assure everyone of their commitment to the kiaownersclub and know they do all they can to help resolve issues.

Thanks KCS

I think most people on the Sportage forum will be wondering if this will fix the bug on the DAB radio which shows no song or artist information.

I'm reluctant to spend £25 updating the maps and for various bug fixes if it's not going to fix the biggest bug complaint in the Sportage.

KCS - can you confirm?
