From t'internet:-
  1. Enter the driver's side and ensure all your doors are completely shut. ...
  2. Turn the key from off to on in the ignition repeatedly until you hear the door locks cycle. ...
  3. Try pressing the lock or unlock button on the Kia key fob. ...
  4. Turn the key back to the off position in the ignition.
EDIT:- That may be for a standard key though????? So maybe this:-

Sorry perhaps I didn't make myself clear, it is a keyless fob and I have no ignition to put the key in. it is a push button ignition.

Take it apart again. Try not to touch the battery. Ensure you out it in the right way up ( Easy not to). Ensure it is touchign both + and - contacts properly. Maybe try a fresh battery. Not unknown for dud 'new' batteries.
