IT’S SHOWTIME FOR LONDON
The Kia stand at the British International Motor Show will bring together three stages of the company's design development in the shape of five concept cars.
These will include the SOUL Burner, SOUL Diva, SOUL Searcher, the four-seat KEE coupe and rag-top ex_cee'd, the first time these concepts have been in the same place at the same time.
Paul Philpott, Managing Director of Kia Motors UK, said: “We have said that cee'd is not the start of things to come from Kia, it is the end of the journey to get where we are now. We move on from here.
“ex_cee'd shows where we have got to while the KEE coupe shows the way the company has started to think in terms of styling. It is the first vehicle in which our design director Peter Schreyer had a significant influence, although the project was already under way when he arrived at Kia. This car is also heavily influenced by Gregory Guillaume, our European Chief Designer.
“The SOUL concepts we showed at Geneva earlier this year show how we can create individuality for a volume range. It shows that in future, buying a Kia will no longer be just a pragmatic choice, but an emotional one as well.”
He added: “Our British International Motor Show stand will emphasise that Kia is living up to its slogan – The Power to Surprise. We will be launching around 13 new or revised products throughout 2009 and 2010 – all will be dynamic, exciting, high quality and design led. There are many more surprises to come from Kia.”
The concept cars will hint at the future design direction of the Kia brand, under the guidance of designers Peter Schreyer, Chief Design Officer, while the complete cee'd range will show how far the brand has developed in recent times.
As well as the concept cars, there will be a number of Kia's latest cars, including the newly introduced cee'd Sport, cee'd SW Sport and the pro_cee'd.
