pro_cee’d 3 1.6 CRDi in white

What will be the split between retail and fleet?

Why no entry-level model equivalent to the cee'd ‘S’?
Kia wanted to emphasise that pro_cee’d is a sporty and distinct car in its own right, with unique and exciting styling, rather than a budget-conscious introductory offer like the threedoor C-segment cars sold by rival manufacturers. For the same reason Kia have increased the standard specification and offered it at the same price as the equivalent cee'd.
What is the sales prediction?
Kia are confident of selling 2000 cars in the UK in 2008, around 18 per cent of the cee'd family total.
What do you see as its main competitors?
Definitely the Vauxhall Astra, one of the few C-segment cars to differentiate the styling of three- and five-door models. Overall, any three-door C-segment car is a rival.
What were the main targets within the C-segment for the dynamic testing?
Volkswagen Golf and Peugeot 307.
Who are its target customers?
We are sure this car will appeal to people who have never before considered a Kia as well as existing customers who want something distinctive and sporty. Young singles and couples and so-called empty-nesters whose children have left home and become independent will be especially drawn to pro_cee’d.
How much of pro_cee’d is shared with the five-door?
Externally, only the front wings and bonnet remain from the five-door. Inside, we have gone for unique sporty trims and engineered a different rear seat plus tilting and sliding front seats with a built-in reclining memory to ensure maximum practicality and ease of use. Underneath, the all-round independent suspension and chassis of the five-door was more than up to the job, so there are only a few changes to damper and anti-roll bars.
When will we see the cabriolet version, ex_cee’d?
It is highly unlikely we will build a cabriolet version of cee’d in the foreseeable future.
When can we expect to see a hot version of the pro_cee’d?
There are no plans at present for a Kia ’hot hatch’.
Will the pro_cee’d use the 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine Hyundai are developing?
There are no plans to use it at present.
What about the spy pictures of the cee’d ‘XR’ – will we see that?
The XR concept is just a body-kit on the five-door for some markets and not a model in its own right. It is available as an aftersales accessory to Kia dealers but there are no plans to bring it to the UK as a new model.
