I have owned my 2010 Sorento for about 8 months and not really bothered with the 'whistles and bells',however, there are two buttons on the right of the drivers position which do not appear in the generic handbook. The first is easy and is a vehicle pointing downhill....however the other is similar to the ribs that appear as an internet sign...but lying sideways to the right. These do not appear in any Kia websites UK/US or OZ....the nearest I can find anywhere are the Parking Assist signs but they have a bollard alongside...
Any suggestions?

Some suggestions:

Voice command

Parking sensors

Adaptive cruise control

AEB sensitivity

Passenger ejector seat

What happens when you press it?

1st = DBC indicator Downhill brake control.

2nd ? Not quite sure what you mean by "ribs that appear as an internet sign"
Could this be Rear fog light indicator?

If you have android phone (apple might have same app) download the "Kia Service App" it has a list of the warning lights by car...
Would be nice if they updated it a bit though.

I'd guess forward parking sensors. In my Sportage there is also an amber light when they are employed automatically when restarting the engine and selecting reverse (they assist then if you are turning out of the space so you don't turn too early and swipe the vehicle next to you whilst you are looking rearwards or at the camera).
You can also employ manually at low speed when entering a parking space (it's a shame they don't employ automatically but they are used for the AEB system and if they were automatic would probably sound every time you stop at lights behind a vehicle in front).
