How do you check if turbo is working on a 06 crdi can't hear it spooling can anyone help. I have no power when trying to accelerate and no power going up any Hill. If I pressure it to nearly red line it blows black smoke. Have tried blanking egr valve and also just cleaning it it seems to be working. So I thought maybe turbo but can't hear it working.

You need a pressure gauge to determine the pressure. Is wastegate seized up and stuck in the open position thus allowing no boost.

If Turbo is ok and working check hoses from Turbo to inter-cooler and up to manifold for leaks. Also check inter-cooler for stone hole or corrosion letting it leak and loose boost pressure.

If the pipe collapses inwards turbo can't be working as you would expect the opposite with boost pressure.
