Can somebody advise - when topping up coolant and iodised water does it go into the engine coolant resevoir or the radiator cap? If it is the coolant res (with the blue cap) how does it open? We've tried unscrewing it but it doesn't seem to come out.

Check that the water is up to the neck of the radiator and top up the expansion tank between min and max marks.

Hi Davy
Appreciate what you are saying re radiator and expansion tank but the problem is that we can't get the top of the expansion tank. Probably something very simple that we are missing but you know what it is like sometimes you can't see the wood for the trees. Sally

I'm not 100% sure if the expansion tank is pressurised on the Carens but on the Rio it wasn't and all you did was pull it upwards and it came off. Tell me this does it have a little pipe coming out the cap on the expansion tank.

If the radiator has a pressurised cap on it then the expansion tank will not have one.

Hi Davy
That sounds like good advice. Our radiator cap is pressurissed so we should be alright topping up from there. Thanks for all your help. Sally
