Topic: Any other Ceeds pull to the left? Posted: 24 Jul 2010 at 7:13pm |
Had my car back at the dealer because of pulling to the left, its exactly the same after the tracking has been done-have the computer printout etc now shows everything in tolerance.
I told the garage this immediately after the tracking was done, still waiting for their response
I asked my mate who is a technician who has tracked a previous car for me to try it and his opinion was:
"It really likes going to the left-its dangerous"
Does anyone else have a Ceed with this problem?
I was told at time of purchase it was an ex KIA fleet car, it actually turned out the one and only previous owner was Eurocar and as a result, it has probably been banging up and down kerbs for the last year.
Needless to say, I will be giving the car back to them to get it sorted.
Thanks
Darwin

Interestingly I was told that my Cee'd was an ex "Kia car" - it too is an ex-hire car! Supplying dealer lost all the servie history on it, causing me worries over the warranty - took 3 months to get sorted and Kia UK couldn't care less. 6 months on I love the car!
Anyway - in answer to your question. I would probably try another Kia dealer for a second opinion or even a tyre/suspension place. If the tracking had been out and has caused uneven tyre wear over a good %age of the tyre's life it could still cause it to pull slightly.

Very slight pull to the left at times, which I have put down to road camber. Where in the UK are you based?

Did it have tracking, or full 4 wheel alignment? If it was just tracking, then it's a waste of time, needs full 4 wheel alignment, what are the printout readings?

It had a full 4 wheel alignment, but the steering wheel is still not perfectly level-that was supposed to be corrected also.
I am in NE England and had the misfortune to buy from Benfield KIA.
I showed the printout to my technician mate and he says everything is basically as it should be, but obviously still pulling to the left

Initially thats what I was putting it down to, but then you remember that every other car you have drove in the past didn't behave like this

For the sake of the £40 it would cost, is it worth getting a trusted independant 4 wheel alignment, as it's not hard to fudge the printout to show what you need it to show. At least that way you will know for sure where the fault lies.

The 4 wheel tracking was sub-let to a local tyre place, Benfields equipment was out of action. I know this because I was given the invoice from them by mistake.
As for a reputable place to get tracking done, with our Fiesta years ago,
Patterson Ford did it twice
National once
Kwuk Fit once
All of them couldnt get the wheel straight at the end, took it to a garage which specialised in Aston Martin repairs, and the guy sorted it immediately at the first attempt, but both tyres were so badly worn on the inside, they needed relacing. Thats why I got this guy to test drive the car for his opinion.
If paying £100 would get it done correctly, I would happily pay it but all these tyre/tracking places are full of teenagers who haven't got the experience.
Benfield sold me the car-its up to them to corect.

UPDATE
I contacted KIA to ask if it was a trademark of Ceeds to go left, they said no. They contacted Benfield and Benfield contacted me withinn 5 minutes. The Benfield General Manager is now sorting out this farce personally, the Service Manager himself is picking up the car next week and getting the car 4 wheel aligned at another Benfield site.
I have also been informed if they cannot get the problem resolved, I can have a exchange.
I feel like I am getting somewhere now
